William Rogers Neel Obituary

William Rogers “Chuck” Neel, 83, of Lyons, Kansas passed away December 18, 2020 at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, Little River. He was born June 4, 1937 in McPherson, the son of Almon S. “Sonny” and Virginia M. Livingston Neel. Chuck graduated from Little River High School with the class of 1955. He grew up in Little River and moved to California when he was 20. Chuck resided in Fresno, CA and Los Osos for 63 years, moving back to Lyons in 2011. He worked for the Fresno Fire Department in Fresno, CA for 28 years, and was a welder for Fruehauf Trailer Corporation. Chuck was also a farmer. He was a member of First Christian Church, Morro Bay, CA, member of Church of Christ, Windom, KS, member and past president of Sea Pines Golf Club Los Osos, CA, and member of the Town and Country Club, Lyons. Early in life, Chuck married Jo Hodges of California. They later divorced. Chuck married Marilyn Neel of California. She preceded him in death. On May 22, 2009, Chuck was united in marriage with Roberta “Bobbie” Robinson Stakeman in Laughlin, Nevada. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his three children, Dixie Lee Moore and husband Bryant of Clovis, CA, Dale Lindsay Neel and wife Kelly of Ojai, CA, and Sherry Lynn Baker and husband Michael of Clovis, CA; step-son, Steven Stakeman of Alpharetta, GA; sister, Connie Sue Solms of Auberry, CA; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; and baby sister, Dixie Lee Neel. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Windom Cemetery, Windom. Memorials may be given to Goodfellows of Rice County in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
