William Burdette Baxter, 63, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away October 1, 2024, at his home. He was born August 14, 1961, in Lyons, the son of Bill Burdette and Ada Marie (Briscoe) Baxter. William was a lifelong Rice County resident. He graduated from Lyons High School with the class of 1980. William worked in maintenance and welding at Compass Minerals in Lyons and Johns Manville in McPherson, Kansas. He was a member of the Liars Fishing Club and Rice County Sportsman Club. William enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his mother, Ada Baxter of Lyons, KS; four children, Jayson Baxter and wife Ashley of Lyons, KS, Deanna Mosier and husband Matt of McPherson, KS, Misty Savage of Sterling, KS, and Jessie Stapleton and husband Josh of Dodge City, KS; half-brother, Brian Griffitt of Lyons, KS; and nine grandchildren, Baylie, Taylor Jo “TJ”, Jhordan, Jhaidyn, Teyton, Abel, Zaylee, Emma, and Raegan. William is preceded in death by his father, brother, Jamie Baxter; and half-brother, John Griffitt. Graveside service will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the Bean Memorial Cemetery, Little River. Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church or the Liars Fishing Club in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
