Wendell Carter Obituary

Wendell Kay Carter, 79, of Alden, Kansas, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2021 at his home. He was born December 3, 1941 in Carrolton, Missouri, the son of Beuford M. and Mary E. Schnare Carter. Wendell has resided in Alden for the past fifty-four years, formerly of Carrolton, Missouri. He graduated from Alden High School with the class of 1959, and later attended Emporia State University. Wendell was a farmer/stockman, and also owned and operated the Alden Farm Supply and Triple C Feeder’s in Alden. He was a member of the Alden United Methodist Church. Wendell enjoyed farming, his cattle, and spending time with his family. He served in the United States Army from November 1959 until May 1963. On August 28, 1960, Wendell was united in marriage with Sheryl Proffitt in Alden. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his two daughters, Paula Willhaus and husband Nolan of Alden, and Sherry Jones and husband Dicko of Sterling; eight grandchildren, Brandi Clark, Ashley Savage, Hayley Howard, Lindsey Johnson, Rachel Miller, Klint Carter, Brittany Ferguson, and Brogan Jones; and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kevin Carter; brother, William “Bill” Carter; and two sisters, Marilyn Richards and Beverly Carter. A private family service will be at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, April 1, 2021 with Pastor Rob Bolton officiating. The service will be live streamed for friends to view on the Alden United Methodist Church’s Facebook page. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling. Memorials can be made to the Alden United Methodist Church in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
