Virginia Grace “Genny” Rowland, 96, of Little River, Kansas, passed away November 10, 2023, at the Sterling Village, Sterling, Kansas. She was born September 22, 1927, the daughter of Vergil and Grace (Edwards) Johnson. Genny has resided in Little River since April of 2021, formerly of Knoxville, Illinois. She worked as a LPN in healthcare for many years. Genny enjoyed painting and gardening. She was married to Billy Rowland. He preceded her in death in September of 1995. Genny is also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, infant David Rowland, and John Rowland; and sister, Edna Bernadean Swenson. She is survived by her four children, Jim Rowland and wife Nancy of Ottumwa, IA, MaryEdna Courson of Little River, KS, Harry Rowland and wife Linda of Knoxville, IL, and Stephen Rowland of Galesburg, IL; nine grandchildren, Charles Courson, David Rowland, Amy Tittel, Jason Rowland, Michael Rowland, Jeremy Rowland, Melissa Cleary, Michelle Rodriguez, and Stephanie Royse; and numerous great-grandchildren. A memorial funeral service will be held in Galesburg, Illinois at a later date. A burial will be held at the East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg, Illinois. Memorials may be given to the Knox County Humane Society in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
