Twila Dumond, 74, of Lyons, passed away August 10, 2022, at her son’s home in Augusta, Kansas. She was born August 6, 1948, in Cedar Vale, Kansas, the daughter of Leslie and Rosa (Watson) Wolfe. She has been a resident of Lyons since July of 1976, formerly of Ellsworth. She graduated from Sedan High School with the class of 1966. She then went on to study computer punch card programming in Kansas City and later attended Southwestern Assemblies of God University. Twila was united in marriage with John W. “Jay” Dumond on August 18, 1967, in Caney, KS. He preceded her in death on September 13, 2018. Twila was actively involved in church and community life. She was a member of Lyons Assembly of God Church for 46 years. A small business owner, she owned and operated DuMond Printing for 20 years, retiring on March 1, 2022. Committed to sharing God’s Word, she served as regional president for Gideons Auxiliary International. She was a former Lyons City Council woman, member of the Lyons Chamber of Commerce, helped with prison ministry in Rice County, was an Advocate for Teen Challenge, and a volunteer for the Rice County Census. Hospitality was one of her many gifts, and her home was often full of people. Twila is survived by her three sons, Rodney Dumond and wife Liz of Niantic, CT., Rev. Travis Dumond and wife Melissa of Augusta, KS., Rick Dumond of Lyons, KS.; daughter, Angela Bonnema and husband Rev. Jamie of Abilene, KS.; borrowed son, Ronnie Young and wife Kimberly of Golden, CO.; sisters, Goldie Mae Seibel of Arkansas City, KS., Willa Bea and husband Virgil Shull of Chatauqua, KS., Phoebe and husband Stan Irey of Menifee, CA., Louise and husband Pondu Shenoy of Mountain View, CA., Clara Ann Roebuck of Chatauqua, KS., Treva Douglass of Lyons, KS; six grandchildren, William, Colin, Samuel, Amelia and Lydia Dumond, Sterling Bonnema, and borrowed grandsons Wyatt and Tyler Young. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Larry, Ray and infant brother Dale Wolfe; sisters; Bonnie Munday and Bernyce Campbell. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday August 15, 2022, at Faith Bible Church, Lyons, KS, with Pastors Travis Dumond, Oscar Gomez, and Larry Schumacher. Visitation will be at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, on Sunday, August 14, 2022, from 3:00 – 6:00 PM with family present. Memorials may be made to Gideons International or Full Circle Discipleship School at Wheat State Retreat Center in care of Birzer Funeral Home.
