Susan Jennifer Johnson, age 65, of Sterling Kansas passed away into the arms of Jesus on January 3, 2024. Susan was born in Clinton, Iowa to Oliver and Anita Parish on December 1, 1958. She graduated from Sterling College and adored her community of Sterling. Susan loved the Lord as her Savior and actively served God in her church, King’s Cross. She loved and supported her husband with all her heart. She held her children close and prayed for them often. Susan has selflessly taken care of her parents. Her dedication to the Lord, to her family, and to her church community and friends was exemplary and admirable. Her mother states that she was stubborn, knew what she wanted to do and then made it happen-but what she strove to do was honor God. Susan worked in several libraries over the years and was administrative assistant to the Superintendent in Remington USD 206 for 10 years. Sue loved running and competed at the collegiate level. She is preceded in death by her father, Oliver Parish. She is survived by: her mother, Anita Parish; her husband James Johnson; her daughter, Melissa Ford; her son, Scott Johnson; her son, Brad Johnson; two grandsons, Ethan Hawkins and Oliver Ford; her brother Robert Parish; and her sister, Janet Befus. Memorial service will be at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church, Lyons, with Pastor Caleb Barrows and Pastor Robert Parish officiating. Burial will follow at the Sterling Community Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., Friday, January 12, 2024, at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling. Memorials may be given to Sterling College in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
