Sharon Kay (McElroy) Haug

Sharon Kay Haug, 65, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away October 16, 2023, at her home. She was born June 8, 1958, in Lyons, the daughter of Ralph and Diane (Alexander) McElroy. Sharon was a lifelong Rice County resident. She graduated from Geneseo High School with the class of 1976. Sharon was a homemaker, and later worked as a laborer for the Lyons Salt Plant, Lyons Foundry, and was a pharmacy technician for Hogan’s Pharmacy in Lyons. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, art and crafts, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. On January 5, 1985, Sharon was united in marriage with Keith Haug in Lyons. He survives of the home. She is also survived by her two sons, Thane Haug of Lawrence, KS, and Chance Haug; two daughters, April Dean and husband Antwon of Hutchinson, KS, and Meagan Taylor of Medicine Lodge, KS; three brothers, Mike McElroy and wife Christy of Kansas City, KS, John McElroy and wife Kay of Ellsworth, KS, and Ron McElroy and partner Arthur of Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren, Serayah, Tirah, and Levi Dean, Brooklyn, Autumn, and Landen Haug, and Courtland Love; two great-grandchildren, Kendrick and Rose Love. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Nicole Love. Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with Pastor Joel Grizzle officiating. Burial will follow at the Geneseo Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., Monday, October 23, 2023, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with family present. Family request everyone to wear casual clothing. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or American Lung Association in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
