Sharlyn Ann (Holdeman) Thode, 76, passed away February 9, 2025. Born April 11, 1948, in Newton, Kansas, to Marge and Harlin Holdeman, Sharlyn grew up in Derby, Kansas, where she formed lifelong friendships in her close-knit neighborhood. After graduating from Derby High School, she earned her Associate's degree from Hutchinson Junior College. She married Russell Thode, sharing 48 years of marriage until his passing in 2017. A devoted member of The United Methodist Church, Sharlyn served as a charter member of the bell choir for 40 years and as Sunday School Secretary. Her musical talents extended to the community band, and she occasionally performed with the Sterling College Band. Sharlyn dedicated 30 years to the Farmers State Agency before embarking on a second career with Main Street, where she served as board president for twelve years before transitioning to the design committee. She is survived by her children, Scott Thode (Andrew) and Trisha Jackson (Maiya and Eli); her sister, Marsha Holdeman; and her brother, Greg Holdeman (Luke and Ginni). Sharlyn will be remembered for her boundless creativity, unwavering dedication, and the vibrant legacy she leaves behind in both her community and the hearts of those who knew her. Services: February 12, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the United Methodist Church in Sterling. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church (for their music program) in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
