Ruth "Cuca" (Villalpando) Morales

Ruth “Cuca” Morales, 97, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away October 10, 2024, at Sterling Village, with her son, Max by her side. She was born February 12, 1927, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Augustine and Louisa Villalpando. Ruth has resided in Lyons since 1951, formerly of Wichita. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons, and the St. Paul Altar Society. Ruth was a homemaker and enjoyed shopping, cooking, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. On January 19, 1951, Ruth was united in marriage with Alfonso Ybarra “Bud” Morales in Lyons. He preceded her in death on January 12, 2021. She is also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Geralyn Morales Schartz; two brothers; and five sisters. Ruth is survived by her five children, Max Morales and significate other Cynthia of Lyons, KS, Alvina Lundquist and husband Brad of Manhattan, KS, Debbie Christianson and husband Tracy of Newton, KS, Susie Morales of Newton, KS, and Tony Morales and wife Thelma; son-in-law, Paul Schartz of Claflin, KS; brother, Innes Villalpando of Wichita, KS; eleven grandchildren, Christopher Schartz of Claflin, KS, Melissa Puetz of Garden Plain, KS, Luke Schartz of Claflin, KS, Megan Gardner of Monument, CO, Jared Lundquist of Hutchinson, KS, Mario Morales of Lincoln, NE, Cassie Morales of Hoisington, KS, Michele Barron of Newton, KS, Ryan Roemmich of CA, Andy Thompson of Newton, KS, and Justin Thompson of Newton, KS; and numerous great-grandchildren. Funeral mass will be at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons, with Father Michael Brungardt officiating. Burial will follow at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., Monday, October 14, 2024, at St. Paul Catholic Church, with family present. A rosary will be at said at 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to the St. Paul Altar Society in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
