Ruth Ann (Johnson) John

Ruth Ann John, 78, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away December 1, 2022, at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons. She was born March 30, 1944, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the daughter of Arthur Godfrey and Stella Irene Fortner Johnson. Ruth has resided in Lyons for the past thirteen years, formerly of McPherson, Kansas. She worked at Disability Supports in McPherson as a Med Aide for many years. Ruth was of the Methodist faith. She loved her animals, gardening and most of all caring for her plants. On September 4, 1964, Ruth was united in marriage with Martin E. John in Little River, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 9, 2019. She is also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Kathleen Ewy and an infant sister. Ruth is survived by her son, Bryan John of Lyons, KS; two daughters, Deborah Payne and husband Kenneth of Sterling, KS, and Shannon Triplett of Kansas City, MO; brother, Art Johnson Jr. of Little River, KS; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M., Monday, December 5, 2022, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with Pastor Ted Weis officiating. Burial will follow at the Bean Memorial Cemetery, Little River, Kansas. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Friends of Animals Rice County in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
