Royce Leon "Lonnie" Morris

Royce Leon “Lonnie” Morris 12/07/1945 – 07/25/2025, 79, of Salina, Kansas, passed away on 07/25/2025 at Salina Regional Health Center. He was born December 7, 1945 in Long Beach, California, the son of Leon Seth and Catheryn (Cain) Morris. Lonnie has resided in Salina, Kansas since 2015, formerly of Lyons, Kansas. He graduated from Lyons High School with the class of 1963 and pursued a degree in education, ultimately graduating from Sterling College. He farmed in the community at nearby Mitchell, Kansas and worked as a teacher and coach at various Kansas school districts, eventually retiring in 2013. He enjoyed fishing, golf, traveling, and watching University of Kansas Jayhawks basketball and football, as well as Kansas City Royals baseball. Lonnie is survived by his wife, Cyndi Morris, in Salina, Kansas, six children; Sarah Catheryn (Morris) Kempke, Sally Kaye (Morris) Martin, Sarah Lynn (Morris) Cox, Emily Jane (Morris) Jarboe, Abby Ruth Morris, Jill Maria (Morris) Cook, and numerous grandchildren. Lonnie is preceded in death by his parents, his sister (Jeanette Sharpe), a daughter (Mary Jane Morris), and a son (Joel Benjamin Morris). Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 PM, Friday, August 1, 2025, at Birzer Funeral Home in Lyons, Kansas. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Birzer Funeral Home in Lyons, Kansas. A memorial has been established with Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas.
