Rosemary Schmidt, 96, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away February 24, 2025, at Good Samaritan Society of Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born December 12, 1928, in Lyons, the daughter of Ray Edward and Edith (Bean) Evans. Rosemary resided in Hutchinson for the past several years, formerly of Lyons and Chase. She graduated from Lyons High School, with the class of 1947. Rosemary was the Rice County Treasurer from 1985 until her retirement in 1993. She was also a Stanley dealer for many years. She was a member of the Salem Church, rural Bushton, and former member of the IOS of Lyons. Rosemary loved baking cakes, enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling, tap dancing and singing. On May 22, 1947, Rosemary was united in marriage with Warren Delbert Schmidt in Bushton, Kansas. He preceded her in death on February 2, 2004. She is also preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Karen Schmidt; brother, Edward Evans; and sister, Rita Trimble. Rosemary is survived by her two children, Mike Schmidt of Hutchinson, KS, and Linda Cesar and husband Harry of West Plains, MO; one granddaughter; two great-grandsons; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the Salem Church, Bushton, with Pastor Tom Reazin officiating. Burial will follow at the Salem-Friedhof Cemetery. Memorials may be given to RCCA (Rice County Council on Aging) or Good Samaritan Society of Hutchinson in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
