Ronald Dean “Ron” Dixon, 68, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away May 2, 2020 at his home. He was born March 7, 1952 in Wellington, Kansas, the son of Bob and Arlene Burger Dixon. Ron graduated from Lewis and Clark High School, Spokane, Washington. He later received an Associate’s degree in Business Management from Cowley County Community College, Arkansas City, Kansas. Ron has resided in Lyons for the past three years, formerly of Hutchinson, where he resided from 2013 until 2017. Prior to residing in Hutchinson he lived in Medford, Oklahoma for 19 years. Ron was a decorated veteran in the United States Army for 28 years, attaining the rank of First Sergeant. He was a member of the Sterling American Legion, Post #128. He played guitar and bass guitar in a number of bands; enjoyed fishing, hobby farming, and was a rock collector, and most of all loved his grandchildren. On March 6, 1986, Ron was united in marriage with Melinda Ehrhart in Arkansas City, Kansas. She survives of the home. Ron is also survived by his son, Tom Pilcher and wife Judy of Ellsworth, KS; two brothers, Jerry Dixon and wife Sharon of Leon, KS, and Rusty Burger of Tonkawa, OK; sister, Cindy Dunn and husband Duane of Caldwell, KS; three grandchildren, Tyler, Drew and Malorie; cousin, David Franklin; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and nephew, Kyle James Hill. Graveside services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
