Roger Henry Morris

Roger Henry Morris, 86, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away August 20, 2022, at Sunrise of Lenexa, Lenexa, Kansas. He was born May 21, 1936, in McPherson, Kansas, the son of Cyril H. and Dorothy Mae Mills Morris. Roger has resided in Shawnee since 1981, formerly of Little River, Kansas. He graduated from Little River High School with the class of 1955. Roger worked as an engineering technician in the Federal Service retiring after 32 years. He served in the United States Air Force from 1957 until 1961, and in the active reserves during the Vietnam War from 1966 until 1969. Roger attended the First United Methodist Church growing up as young adult in Little River and was a member of the American Legion Post #0001, Topeka, Kansas. On April 12, 1971, Roger was united in marriage with Dorothy Agnes Bircher in Shawnee, Kansas. She preceded him in death on October 3, 2020. He is also preceded in death by his parents, and son, Roger Lamont Morris. Roger is survived by his two daughters, Sherry Lynn Hill and husband Michael of Wasilla, AK, and Stashia Annette Morris of Blue Springs, MO; stepdaughter, Debra Tillinghast and husband John of Clifton, KS; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and 6 step-great-grandchildren. Graveside service will be held at 1:30 P.M., Friday, May 26, 2023, at Bean Memorial Cemetery, Little River, Kansas, with Pastor Anna Borders officiating. Military honors by the United States Air Force Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
