Roberta May Obituary

Roberta Ann Keesling May died peacefully on March 24, 2022, after a lifetime of family, friends, love, and adventures. Roberta’s funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, April 9 at the First Christian Church in Lyons, KS. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing in Roberta’s name to the Lyons Bell and Star fund in care of the Birzer Funeral Home in Lyons, KS. Roberta was born on February 25, 1940, in Lyons, KS to Virgil William Keesling and Selma Caroline Dipple. She grew up and attended school in Rice County, proudly graduating from Chase High School in 1958. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Lyons, KS. Roberta married Floyd Dean May in 1960 and they began their life together in Kansas. In 1978, they moved to Texas where they raised their family and were later blessed with seven grandchildren. After living in several cities in Texas, they settled in their retirement home on Lake Whitney. Roberta was the best example of a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend for all that knew her. She loved spending time with and watching her children and grandchildren grow up and participating in their activities, as well as traveling with Floyd and their Boston terriers in their motor home, creating homemade cards, sewing, making arts and crafts, watching the wildlife at their home on Lake Whitney, collecting owls and baking fancy cakes and goodies for all to enjoy. Additionally, Roberta was a successful businesswoman as a Tupperware Manager for over 40 years, earning numerous top sales awards. Roberta is survived by her husband of more than 61 years, Floyd May; her sister, Barbara Keesling Sherman and her husband Tom; her daughter, Valorie May Shelton and her husband; Mikel; her son, Kevin May and his wife Katie; as well as her grandchildren, Christopher Shelton, Craig Shelton and his wife Maddie, Collin Shelton, Addison May, Caroline May, Hannah May and Andrew May; her niece Shelley Sherman McIntyre and her husband Rich; her step siblings Sharry Tice and her husband Duane; Dennis Wikoff and his wife Rexann. She was preceded in death by her stepsister, Kala Suhler and her nephew, Corwin Sherman.
