Robert E. Hammer

Robert E. Hammer, 82, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away June 6, 2019 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. He was born on April 27, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Frank and Esther Smith Hammer. Robert has resided in Lyons since 2004, formerly of Hutchinson. He was a longtime machinist for Cessna-Eaton in Hutchinson and Lyons Manufacturing. Robert was a former member of Hutchinson-Reno Masonic Lodge #124 A.F. & A.M., B.A.S.S. Club and Liars Fishing Club, Lyons. He was avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. On November 10, 1978, Robert was united in marriage with Dale Dee Lucas. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his sons, Robert E. Hammer Jr. and wife Tess of Wichita, KS, Russell L. Hammer and wife Sonja of Lyons, KS, Chris Turner and wife Jenise of Lyons, KS, and Billy Norman Turner, Jr. and wife Nancy of Geneseo, KS; daughters, Billie Jo Martinez and husband Joel of Lyons, KS, and Deedra Turner of Lyons, KS; eleven grandchildren; and thirty great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Sidney, Herbert, and Ronald Hammer; grandson, Thorne Redger; and great-grandson, Carter James Warnecke. Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with Pastor Joel Grizzle officiating. Burial will be at Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 P.M., Monday, June 10, 2019 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to Charity of your choice in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
