Phillip Leonard “Phil” Rasnic Mathews, 63, of Raymond, Kansas, passed away March 6, 2024, at his home. He was born June 16, 1960, the son of Floyd Lee and Esther Martha (Bailey) Mathews. Phil has resided in Raymond for the past seven years, formerly of Sterling, Kansas, and San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from Sterling High School with the class of 1978 and attended Kansas Automotive Technical School. Phil worked as a mechanic for Mathews Repair for fifteen years, and Central Kansas Services for the past five years. He enjoyed racing funny cars, building hot rods, gardening, baking, drawing, fishing, and camping. Phil is survived by his fiancé, Lorry Rasnic of Raymond, KS; three children, Phillip Mathews and wife Rachelle of Topeka, KS, Lisa Mathews, and Alex Mathews and significate other, Kristin Walton of Lyons, KS; three step-children, Joshua Douglass of Raymond, KS, Jaime McVey and husband Larry of Nickerson, KS, and Jeremy Cruth of Sterling, KS; neph-son, Ryan Rasnic and wife Iris of Partridge, KS; two brothers, Jeff Neill and wife Annabelle of Manhattan, KS, and Chase Mathews of Palm Springs, FL; five sisters, Louise Hauschild and husband Rick of Sterling, KS, Doris Curran and husband Chuck of Grove, OK, Laura Miles of Topeka, KS, Maryoletta Osborn of Fisher, OK, and Cindy Mathews Hamm of Dallas, TX; eighteen grandchildren, Haley, Abigale, Hunter, Gabriel, Hunter, Logan, Tyler, Sarah, Gabriel, Michael, Daniel, Spencer, Aurora, Kaden, Derek, Dylan, Tyler, and Ayden; four great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family. Phil is preceded in death by his parents; niece-daughter, Lindsey Rasnic; two brothers, Kenneth Rasnic and James Rasnic; and sister, Kelly Youngblood. A celebration of life service will be at 4:00 P.M., Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 2002 Avenue T, Sterling, KS. Memorials may be given to Friends of Animals Rice County in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
