Phillip Reed Cory, 91, of Little River, Kansas, passed away December 21, 2021, at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, Little River. He was born August 10, 1930, in Little River, the son of Carl and Mabel Goodrick Cory. Phillip was a lifetime Little River resident. He graduated from Little River High School with the class of 1948. Phillip worked for Pepsi, Coca Cola, Rainbow Bread, numerous township cemeteries, and road maintenance for numerous townships. He served in the United States Airforce from January 5, 1951 until his honorable discharge on October 23, 1953 during the Korean War. Phillip love mowing yards, and being outside especially watching the birds and squirrels, plus tinkering in his small shop. He took great pride in his maintenance of the two cemeteries and the township roads. Phillip loved planting his garden and tending to his flowers. On December 24, 1953, Phillip was united in marriage with Martha Jane Wedgeworth in Alexandria, Louisiana. She preceded him in death on April 19, 2005. He is also preceded in death by his parents; son, Paul Rodney Cory; two brothers, Virgil and Kenneth Cory; and two sisters, Ruth and Emma Mae. Phillip is survived by his two daughters, Cathy Micek and husband Ted of Paxton, NE, and Tammy Sullivan of Little River; twin sister, Phyllis Perrin; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Christen, Nina, Amanda, Marty, Andrea, Roddy and Shawn; fifteen great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two step-great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held in the Spring of 2022 at Bean Memorial Cemetery, with Pastor Ted Weis officiating. Military honors by the United States Airforce Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to Birzer Funeral Home in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
