Philip Wayne Markle

Philip Wayne Markle, 82, of Goodyear, Arizona, formerly of Lyons, Kansas, passed away January 22, 2021 in Goodyear, where he and his wife had resided since 2001. He was born May 17, 1938, in Lyons, the son of Wayne Davis and Ruth Maurine Young Markle. He graduated from Lyons High School with the class of 1956. Philip served in the United States Air Force on active duty as well as the Reserves, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1984. Philip moved his wife and three children back to Lyons from California in 1977, when he took over the family farm. On March 9, 1968, Philip was united in marriage with Katherine Dorothy McGuire in Tacoma, Washington. She preceded him in death on July 4, 2006. He is also preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Shelly Markle Stallings and Marilyn Markle Napier. Philip is survived by his two sons, Brett Allan Markle of Seattle, WA, and Brian Anthony Markle of Los Angeles, CA; daughter, Brynn Allison Markle Bowen of Falls Church, VA; and five grandchildren Jacob, Emma, Nevia, Laykin, and Daxton. Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with Pastor Tom Eastman officiating. Burial will follow at Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:15 P.M. until service time with the family present. Memorials may be given to Wounded Warrior Project in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
