Patrick Boone "Pat" Staton

Patrick Boone “Pat” Staton, 64, of Sterling, Kansas, passed away August 6, 2021, at Hospice House of Hutchinson. He was born September 29, 1956, in Coffeyville, Kansas, the son of Jack E. and Joan Defenbaugh Staton. Pat graduated from Nickerson High School, with the class of 1975. He has resided in Sterling since 1985, formerly of Hutchinson. Pat worked for Consolidated Manufacturing in Hutchinson for 27 years tearing down engines and later becoming the leadman in the parts room. He also worked for Camp Wa-Ja-To as a grounds keeper. Pat was a member of the First Christian Church, Lyons, where he served as a past elder, deacon, financial secretary, and soundman. Pat enjoyed playing the drums, doing body work on cars, collecting cars, loved going fishing and enjoyed watching NASCAR and Western movies. On October 27, 1979, Pat was united in marriage with Debra M. “Debbie” Patterson in South Hutchinson. She survives of the home. Pat is also survived by his daughter, Susie Brogan and husband Shiloh of Colby, KS; three grandchildren, Kiley, Lacey, and Dylan Brogan of Colby, KS; aunt, Betty Lindbloom of Denver, CO; cousins, Brenda Smith and husband Dean of Hutchinson, and Connie Welton and husband Jay of Denver, CO; and his beloved dog, Rico. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Michael Staton. Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 13, 2021 at the First Christian Church, Lyons with Pastor Thom Scott and Pastor Ron DeVore officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 P.M., Thursday, August 12, 2021, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church or American Cancer Society in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
