Patricia J. “Pat” Crowl, 80, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away May 3, 2019 at her home in Lyons. She was born October 11, 1938 in Lyons, the daughter of Samuel and Evelyn Nelson Plank. Pat graduated from Little River High School with the class of 1956. She was a lifelong Rice County resident. Pat worked 11 years in the catalog department for JCPenny in Lyons and was a homemaker. She was a member of First Christian Church, Lyons, where she served as a deacon and was on the membership committee; member of Dwight Lamson American Legion Post #258 Ladies Auxiliary in Little River and American Legion Post #129, Lyons; Habitat for Humanity; Gray Lady at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons, and served on the American Blood Mobile and Rice County Election Board. On June 3, 1956, Pat was united in marriage with Max Crowl at Congregational Church in Little River, Kansas. He preceded her in death on July 1, 2018. She is also preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Doris Plank; sons, Dennis and Timothy Crowl in infancy and Tom Crowl; infant sister, Cheryl Plank; grandchild, Cameron Crowl; step-great-granddaughter, Teagan Anne Gorman. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Plett and husband John of Sterling, KS; son, Ken Crowl and wife Bobi of Katy, TX; daughter-in-law, Earnie Crowl of Newton, KS, sisters, Judy Cain and husband Larry of Little River, KS, Diane Larson and husband Jerry of McPherson, KS, Jerri Richardson and husband Wayne of Pryor, OK, and Tammy Merchant and fiancé Stephen Melton of Rockwall, TX; step-sisters, Wanda Reid and husband Roger of Lyons, KS, and Beverly Little and husband Warren of Alva, OK; grandchildren, Joni Hust and husband Mark of Hutchinson, KS, Dustin Plett and wife Angie of Sterling, KS, Jonathan Crowl and wife Haley of Minneapolis, MN, Joanna Crowl of Portland, OR, James Crowl of Lincoln, NE, and Chelsea Sperry and husband Jake of Halstead, KS; step-grandchilden, Stephanie Ng of Chesapeake, VA, Patrick Gorman and wife Tawni of Houston, TX, and Katie Dunham and husband Jordon of Frisco, TX; great-grandchildren, Rylie and Kynli Plett of Sterling, KS, Marvel Crowl of Minneapolis, MN, and Judd Thomas Sperry is on the way; and step-great-grandson, Landon Ng. Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 11, 2019 at First Christian Church, Lyons with Pastor Ron DeVore officiating. Burial will be at Bean Memorial Cemetery, Little River, KS. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 P.M., Friday, May 10, 2019 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to First Christian Church, Lyons, Bell & Star Fund, or The ALS Association (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
