Patricia Nadine (Wurst) McMurphy

Patricia Nadine (Wurst) McMurphy, 94, of Sterling, Kansas, passed away August 14, 2023, at the Sterling Village, Sterling. She was born August 15, 1928, in Sterling, Kansas, the daughter of William A. and Della (Miller) Wurst. Patricia was a lifelong Sterling resident. She worked as a dietary aide for Presbyterian Manor (now Sterling Village) and later for Friendship Meals in Sterling. On November 15, 1947, Patricia was united in marriage with Buel McMurphy. He preceded her in death on July 28, 1989. Patricia is also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Donna; brother, Graydon; and two nephews, Russell Cundith and Kelly McMurphy. She is survived by her sister, Phyllis DonCarlos of Sterling, KS; nieces, Cheri Thomas (Anthony) of Parsons, KS, Patty McMurphy of Hutchinson, KS, Chasity Roberts (Mike) of Eldorado, KS, Alyssa Reimer of Hutchinson, KS, Alayna Roberts of Eldorado, KS, Chloe Roberts of Eldorado, KS, Kelsy Cundith of CA, Emily, Aliyah, Payslie and Bethany Thomas of Lawton, OK; nephews, Greg Wurst (Adrian) of Manhattan, KS, Wen Wurst (Rhonda) of Garden City, KS, Brian Wurst (Bev) of Lamar, CO, Brett Thomas (Shayne) of Parsons, KS, Austin Roberts of Eldorado, KS, William Cundith of Sterling, KS, and Shawn Cundith of Sterling, KS; and numerous great nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling. Burial will follow at the Sterling Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Friends of Animals Rice County in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
