Patricia Ann (Schechter) Kelso

Patricia Ann “Patty” Kelso, 76, of Sterling, Kansas, passed away September 25, 2023, at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons, Kansas. She was born December 28, 1946, in Sterling, the daughter of Bruce and Elva (Henry) Schechter. Patty was a lifetime Sterling resident. She graduated from Sterling High School, with the class of 1964. Patty was a farm wife and co-owner of Kelso Contract Pumping, Sterling. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and Sterling American Legion Auxiliary Post #128. Patty enjoyed sewing, camping, gardening, and most of all spending time with her family. On April 24, 1964, Patty was united in marriage with James “Ron” Kelso in Sterling. He survives of the home. She is also survived by her three children, Stephanie Buckman and husband Alan, Lesa Flickinger and husband Kyle, and Travis Kelso and wife April all of Sterling, KS; sister, Janice Rhodes of Hesston, KS; six grandchildren, Jeremy Flickinger and wife McKenzi, Jake Flickinger and wife Anna, Dylan Flickinger and wife Shae, Katelyn Buckman, Chase Buckman, and Grayson Kelso; and eleven great-grandchildren, Taylor, Peyton, Kyla, Jayci, Tatum, Presley, Layni, Kayli, Mayci, Parker, and Amberly. Patty is preceded in death by her parents; brother, David Schechter; brother-in-law, Gary Rhodes; and father and mother-in-law, Olin and Dorothy Kelso. Graveside service will be at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, September 30, 2023, at the Sterling Community Cemetery, with Dennis Corbet officiating. Memorials may be given to the Sterling American Legion Post #128 in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
