Norma Lea Pangburn, 88, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away May 5, 2024, at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons. She was born on the family farm, February 17, 1936, the daughter of Sheldon J. and Sylver L. (Janssen) Adams. She was a 1954 graduate of Lyons High School. Norma grew up near Pollard, Kansas, lived in Wichita from 1955 until 1997, before moving to Lyons.
She was employed with Wichita State University. She was a homemaker, enjoyed sewing and growing flowers. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lyons, and Lyons Methodist Women.
Reverend Ernest S. Pangburn united in marriage Norma Pangburn and Donald Pangburn on November 25, 1955, in Frederick, Kansas. They shared 62 years together. Survivors include: son, Michael and wife Cindy, son, Mark, and son, Sheldon and wife Mary; four grandchildren, Brian, David and wife Kelsey, Lori, and Luci; five greatgrandchildren, Addelyn, Charles, Lily, Carter, and Logan; sister, Judy K. Day; and her two cats, Tabby and Toby.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; and brother, Jerry Adams.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, May 13, 2024, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons. Burial will follow at Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons. Visitation will be from 9:00 until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Bell and Star Fund in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
