Nina Mae Ruth Wolfe, 103, of Sterling, Kansas, passed away April 30, 2021 at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons, Kansas. She was born December 8, 1917 in Berryville, Arkansas, the daughter of Jesse Preston and Ruth Louise Gray Scott. Nina has resided in Sterling for the past 68 years, formerly of Berryville, Arkansas. She was a housekeeper at Sterling College and a housewife. Nina was a member of the Eastern Star Queen Esther Chapter 32 of Sterling, and attended the First United Methodist Church in Sterling. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, and most of all spending time with her family. On September 1, 1938, Nina was united in marriage with Henry Merle Wolfe in Berryville, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on November 6, 1977. She is also preceded in death by her parents; son, Dale Wolfe; brother, Joe Preston Scott; sister, Jessie Deaton; and grandson, Charles Robert Wolfe. Nina is survived by her two sons, Billie Wolfe and wife Debbie, and Charlie Wolfe and wife Leslie both of Sterling; daughter, Barbara Monroe of Middleton, MO; eight grandchildren, Wendy Wolfe and Cheryl Scott, Alan Monroe and wife Gail, Erin Dorsey and husband Tommy, Scott Wolfe, Monica Gibson and husband Jason, Robert Wolfe and wife Tracy, Traca Wolfe, and Tayler Wolfe; two step-grandchildren, William Kately and Travis Kately; and numerous great-grandchildren. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Rice Community Healthcare Foundation-Swing Bed Unit in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
