Nicholas Antonio "Nico" Banuelos

Nicholas Antonio “Nico” Banuelos, 30, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away November 1, 2021, at his home. He was born December 20, 1990, in Roseville, California, the son of Jose Banuelos and Rosa Salas. Nico has resided in Lyons since 2009, formerly of Denver, Colorado. He worked at KMW of Sterling, Kansas, as a painter on the assembly line. Nico enjoyed reading, gaming, gardening, animals, especially his cats, and watching anime shows. He loved telling jokes, listening to music, and most of all spending time with his son, Leon Ray Cruz Banuelos and family. Nico is survived by his parents; Jose Banuelos and Rosa Salas of Lyons; son, Leon Ray Cruz Banuelos of Lyons; siblings, Teresa Morin of Dallas, TX, Tony Morin of Sacramento, CA, Joe Morin of Sacramento, CA, Pete Morin of Denver, CO, Yvonne Morin of Torrence, CA, Rosie Morin of Lyons, Franky Morin of Denver, CO, Magdalena Banuelos of Denver, CO, and Josefina Banuelos of Lyons, Sandra Banuelos of Rochester, MN; Netza Banuelos of Albert Lea, MN, Toby Figueroa of Albert Lea, MN; best friend, Maggie Gonzalez of Lyons; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his adored grandmother, Victoria Gurrola Salas; and adopted grandpa, Nicholas Clapper. Funeral service will be at 6:00 P.M., Thursday, November 4, 2021, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with Father Michael Brungardt officiating. A visitation will follow until 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Wheatridge, Colorado.
