Mickey Ray "Mick" Hogg

Mickey Ray “Mick” Hogg, 75, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away October 23, 2023, at his home. He was born February 27, 1948, in La Crosse, Kansas, the son of Richard H. and Ada (Bitter) Hogg. Mick was a lifelong Rice County resident. He graduated from Chase High School, Chase, Kansas, with the class of 1966. Mick served in the United States Army from 1968 until 1969, in Lon Bin, Vietnam. He worked at Gustus Manufacturing, Geneseo, American Salt, Lyons, and thirty two years for Burlington, Northern & Santa Fe Railroad. He enjoyed fishing, model trains and putting together puzzles. On April 13, 1979, Mick was united in marriage with Phyllis Schroeder. Mick is survived by his wife, Phyllis; three sons, David Dawson (Lindsay) of Shawnee, KS, Joshua Hogg (Alisha) of Hutchinson, KS, and Caleb Dawson-Hogg of Salina, KS; two daughters, Kathy Dawson of IL, and Natasha Davis of Lyons, KS; two brothers, Terry Hogg of Wichita, KS, and Jerry Hogg of Lyons, KS; brother-in-law, Hank Cox of Hutchinson, KS, sister-in-law, Janice O’Brien of Cottonwood Falls, KS; eight grandchildren, Sophia, Ava, Logan, Dylan, Elliot, Draiden, Donivin, and Dominic; three great-grandchildren, Luther, Lilium, and Lexus; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mick was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Glenn Hogg; and sister, Judy Cox. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to Friends of Animals Rice County in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
