Merrill Bruce “Mick” Amend, 66, of Alden, Kansas, passed away May 11, 2022, at his home. He was born October 6, 1955, in Advance, Indiana, the son of Donald and Barbara Caldwell Amend. Mick has resided in Alden since 2005, formerly of Sterling, Kansas. He served in the United States Army from 1972 until 1975. Mick was a painter, machinist, welder, and HVAC technician. He had a strong faith and was a true believer in Christ. Mick was a member of the Sterling American Legion Post #128. He enjoyed fishing, loved all kinds of animals, and most of all enjoyed spending time with his family. On November 7, 1998, Mick was united in marriage with Robin Buster in Lyons, Kansas. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Kristie Young of Bennett, CO; two sisters, Robin Masters of Beech Grove, IN, and Janet Belford of Lebanon, IN; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mick is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, David Amend. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
