Dear McNutt family,
I send my deepest condolences. I do want want to share with you what impact Doug had on my young Frogman career. I had the pleasure to work along side him at the ST-3 Airloft. While a caring man, he was also quite demanding - that I appreciated as I was an FNG at the time - to be a hard working and be a committed member of the Teams. I’m saddened to hear that Doug has left us at such an early age. When I think back to my SEAL Team mentors (although not called ‘mentors” back in the day), Doug was certainly one always giving me wise advice and his encouraging banter to “stay hard” resonates with me to this very day. Again, my condolences and my thoughts will remain with Doug and his family.
Most Sincerely, Tony Waters

My sincerest condolences to the McNutt family. Doug was our ST3 Plt LPO and then Chief. He kept me squared away and the young guys! He then kept me afloat at 3rd Phase while we were instructors together; for 5 straight years he covered my six. I love this man! It’s tearing me up. He was selfless, 100% dedicated to his men, hilarious, and a hard-ass when he had to be. I’m going to miss him terribly. Love you McNutter

Doug was the consummate professional and epitome of what the Teams were all about. I as young JO, he took the time to mentor me and help me as I was learning the ropes as an ENS. I always remembered him as a role model TG, operator, instructor & leader. Our NSW legacy is built upon the shoulders of MCPO/SOCM Doug McNutt (SEAL) RIP...
