Mary Lou (Oyer) Gunnerson

Mary Lou (Oyer) Gunnerson, 85, of Merriam, KS passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 24, 2022 at Merriam Gardens. Following cremation, she was interred alongside her parents at Lyons Municipal Cemetery, located at 821 N. Grand Ave, Lyons, KS 66554. A time for any who wish to share memories of Mary Lou will be held on Sat., June 11th at 1:00 PM at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Mary Lou was born on February 20, 1937 to Delmar D. and Dorothy E. (Poole) Oyer of Wichita, Kansas. Mary Lou loved the mountains and lived most of her adult life in Denver, CO. Her professional life was in banking. This was a good fit for her as she enjoyed talking to and helping customers. While living in Denver, she met and married Max Gunnerson. After the death of her husband in 2003, she eventually returned to Wichita to care for her mother. When Mary Lou moved to Brookdale and Merriam Gardens, she was always praised for her outgoing personality and her willingness to participate in activities. She was the designated greeter for new arrivals at Brookdale. She went out of her way to get to know the staff and other residents. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband Max, her brother Dennis and her parents. She is survived by her niece, Teresa White (Overland Park, KS) and nephews, Brian Oyer (Olathe, KS) and Jeremy Oyer (Phoenix, AZ).
