Mary Eger Obituary

On Friday, the 29th of December, 2023, Mary Christine Eger passed away peacefully at 11:25 am while in the care of her loving husband, Gerald (Jerry) E. Eger, of 43 years of marriage. She was born in Clinton, MO on March 21, 1962 to Janet and George Hiser. Mary pursued many different vocations as well as achieved many academic accomplishments, but it was all in pursuit of one goal, to eventually stay home and care for her family the way she always wanted to do. As a faithful follower of the Lord, she was a long time attender at Cross Roads Church with Pastor Joe and Sharron Smith in Kansas City, KS up until 2017 when she and Jerry moved to Lyons, KS and found her community at Assembly of God Church where she continued her passion for intercessory prayer. Mary had many talents and skills, but she mostly enjoyed creating beautiful dresses for her granddaughters, handsome suits for her grandsons, as well as, making and decorating dollhouses for her grandchildren to enjoy. She was also unequally skilled at finding a solution to any problem that came her way. Wether it be rearranging the packed car while on a family vacation or simply making sure one of her kids had a water heater or food in their pantry. She had it covered. The qualities that are admired most though, is she always found a way to make sure she left people better than when she found them. She made it a point that those around her felt welcomed, loved and cherished. You could feel her arms around you hours after she hugged you. Each conversation with her was filled with gentle understanding and encouragement. Mary Christine Eger is preceded in death by her mother and father, Janet and George Hiser. Her older brother, Michael Lynch, her younger brother Melvin Edward, and her infant daughter, Wendy Michelle Eger. She is survived by, her spouse, Gerald E. Eger, her daughter, Kristy Manis (Joseph) Daughter, Amanda Fritz, son, Zechariah Eger (Maggie) Grandchildren with her nicknames for each of them, Malachi (Mickey) Taylor, Elissa (Sister) Taylor, Lawrence (Jordan) Manis, Jonathan (Jon-Boy) Fritz, Ethan (E-than) Manis, Benjamin (Ben-Jammin) Fritz, Elisabeth (Princess) Fritz, Amelia (Angel) Eger, Orion (Hunter) Eger and bonus grandchild, Leon Banuelos.
