Marla Joan Clay, 74, of Columbus, Nebraska, passed away August 10, 2024, at her home. She was born June 23, 1950, in Sterling, Kansas, the daughter of Bill Dean and Geraldine Eileen (Bellony) Crawford. Marla grew up in Sterling, and has resided in Columbus since 2003. Marla worked at Columbus Hydraulics from 1999 until her retirement in 2019 as a CNC machinist and hydraulic cylinder leak tester. Marla enjoyed putting up decorations around the holidays, camping, fishing, and doing projects around the house. Marla was the life of the party, she liked to call herself the architect. She is survived by her four sons, Eric Clay and wife Barbara of Florence, KS, Neil Clay of Excelsior Springs, MO, Patrick Clay of Lansing, KS, and Kevin Clay of Lincoln, NE; sister, Donna Harvey of Wichita, KS, sister-in-law, Elva Schroeder of Buhler, KS; and six grandchildren. Marla is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Thomas Crawford. Graveside service will be at 9:30 A.M., Friday, September 13, 2024, at the Sterling Community Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
