Marcia Axtell Obituary

Marcia Ann Axtell, 73, of Sterling, Kansas, passed away March 4, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born March 31, 1948, in Winfield, Kansas, the daughter of Homer “Lee” and Marie Baker Isenagle. Marcia has resided in Sterling since 1967, formerly of Hutchinson, Kansas. She graduated from Hutchinson High School, with the class of 1966. Marcia was a farm wife. She also worked as a cook for Sterling USD 376 for fifteen years; owned and operated an in-home daycare; was a receptionist for Shelter Insurance in Lyons; and did tax preparation for H&R Block. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Sterling; member of a local card group for thirty years; member of Preceptor Delta Phi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi; and served on the Sterling Township for many years. She enjoyed cooking, taking pictures, camping, and most of all spending time with her family. On December 30, 1967, Marcia was united in marriage with Harvey L. Axtell in Hutchinson. He survives of the home. She is also survived by her two daughters, Leanna Hook and husband Chad of Sterling and Maggie Axtell of Nickerson, KS; brother, Gary Isenagle and wife Roxanne of Austin, TX; and two grandsons, Wyatt and Cody Hook. She is preceded in death by her parents. Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 11, 2022, at the United Presbyterian Church, Sterling with Pastor Melissa Krabbe officiating. Burial will be held at the Sterling Community Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be given to donor’s choice in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
