Lynn Renee (Heintz) Burgess

Lynn Renee Burgess, 68, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away June 12, 2024, at Sterling Village, Sterling, Kansas. She was born June 15, 1955, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Dean and Lois (Backlund) Heintz. Lynn has resided in Lyons for the past twenty-one years, formerly of Derby, Kansas. Lynn graduated from Southeast High School, Wichita, with the class of 1973, and later received her x-ray technician certificate. She worked as an x-ray technician for various locations in Wichita. Lynn was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lyons, and a member of the Golden Plains Llama Association. She enjoyed showing llamas at the Kansas State Fair, crocheting hats, loved all animals, and most of all spending time with her family. On June 14, 2003, Lynn was united in marriage with Richard Burgess in Lyons. After their marriage, Lynn worked part-time at the Rice County Health Department in Lyons, was a homemaker and also enjoyed helping Richard on their hobby farm. She is survived by her husband, Richard Burgess of Lyons, KS; two sons, Mickey Shannon and wife Valerie of Goddard, KS, and Rusty Shannon and wife Felicia of Wichita, KS; stepson, Jay Burgess of Anchorage, AK; two sisters, Joan Petersen and husband Greg of Newton, KS, and Jean Cherrington and husband Jim of Fairplay, CO; two grandchildren, Obidiah and Ezra Shannon; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lynn is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Vaughn Heintz. Funeral service will be at 11:30 A.M., Friday, June 21, 2024, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 P.M., Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to Gentiva Hospice or Rice County Council on Aging in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
