Lyndell May Rockwell, 94, of Hutchinson, passed away September 19, 2020 at Diversicare of Hutchinson. She was born April 11, 1926 in Sterling, the daughter of Earl W. and Alma Kelly Rakestraw. Lyndell has resided in Hutchinson since 1940, formerly of Sterling. She attended Sterling High School. Lyndell was a machinist for Consolidated Manufacturing in Hutchinson, retiring in 1980. She enjoyed camping, yard sales, reading, and going dancing. She was a member of the Hutchinson Moose Lodge #982. On March 23, 1946, Lyndell was united with Edwin W. Rockwell in Washington, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 31, 1997. She is also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Calvin Rakestraw and wife Lillian, Merle Harmon and wife Amy, and Otis Rakestraw and wife Shirley. Lyndell is survived by her two sons, Lawrence “Kent” Rockwell and wife Virginia "Ginny”, and Dennis E. Rockwell and wife Iona both of Hutchinson; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. Graveside service will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Sterling Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling. Memorials may be given to Serenity Hospice Care in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
