Lois Creed Obituary

Lois Catherine Creed, 92, of Windom, died Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Sandstone Heights, Little River. A longtime area resident, she was born December 18, 1928, in Hutchinson to the late John Arthur and Anna (Johnson) Hubenett. Lois graduated in 1946 as Valedictorian of Little River High School. She attended Bethany College for one year and Adela Hale Business College in Hutchinson. On May 21, 1950, she married Willis D. (Bill) Creed at Andover Lutheran Church. They were married for 61 years until Bill’s death November 16, 2011. Lois worked at Farmers Alliance Mutual Insurance in McPherson for 18 years. In 1981, she became Windom City Clerk and Bill became Windom Mayor. They devoted their time to improving Windom, including planting trees (Tree City, USA) through grants for the city park. Bill and Lois worked diligently for the citizens of Windom. Lois’s hobbies included reading, crocheting and crossword puzzles. She was an avid member of the local 3-county chapter of the Santa Fe Trail. Lois was a member of the Andover Lutheran Church, Windom, Windom Senior Center, and served on the Board of Directors for Andover WELCA. Survivors include two sons, John (Carol) of Arvada, Colorado and Bradley (Patricia) of Howell, Michigan; daughter-in-law, Colleen of Lawrence, Kansas; and four grandchildren, Mary, David, Anna, and Daniel; one brother, Paul (Elois) Hubenett residing at Sandstone Heights. She was preceded in death by a sister Ruth (Bruce) Palmer and son, Dale. Funeral services will be in the spring of 2022. Memorials may be given to the Andover Lutheran Church, Windom and the Windom Senior Center in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons. She was the best mom ever!
