Linda Lou (Koons) Hogan, 84, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away January 20, 2024, at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, Little River, Kansas. Linda was born June 18, 1939, in Sterling, Kansas, the daughter of Russell and Vada (Kelley) Koons. She was a lifelong Rice County, Kansas resident. Linda graduated from Alden High School, Alden, Kansas, with the class of 1957. On April 5, 1959, Linda was united in marriage with Wayne Arlin Hogan in Lyons. In her early years, she was a teller at Lyons State Bank and later in life worked alongside her husband Wayne as a co-owner and manager at Hogan’s Pharmacy and was a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lyons, where she sang in the choir for many years. Linda was also a member of the United Methodist Women, member of the Ladies Golf League in Lyons; and past member and treasurer for Lyons Music Club. She was a volunteer and past treasurer for the Rice County Women’s Thrift Shop. For several years Linda took many cruises to the Caribbean and other destinations with her mom and three sisters, as well as trips to Las Vegas and Reno. After retirement, Linda and Wayne enjoyed traveling to many places, some of their favorites included, Alaska, Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and New England, as well as the Grand Canyon, New Mexico, the Panama Canal, Aruba, and Acapulco. However, their most frequent destination was to Spriggs Rock Lake in Little River to camp and spend time with family. Linda enjoyed camping, reading, loved listening to music, golfing, and was an avid walker. Linda is survived by her three sons, Jeff Hogan of Osaka, Japan, Gary Hogan and wife Brenda of Little River, KS, and Scott Hogan and wife Cindy of Little River, KS; sister, Katherine Hoffman and husband Max of Hutchinson, KS; five grandchildren, Christopher and wife Christy, Daniel, Andrew, Keenan and wife Meredith, and Meara and husband Spencer; and three great-grandchildren, Elijah, Noah, and Eleanor. Linda is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne; brother, Lee Koons; sister, Connie Bowser; and granddaughter, Kara Hogan. Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M., Friday, January 26, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church, Lyons, with Pastor Anna Borders officiating. Burial will follow at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 P.M., Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church or the Rice County Women’s Thrift Shop in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
