Leslie V. Mathews

Leslie V. Mathews, 86, passed away October 7, 2016 at Sterling Presbyterian Manor. He was born January 25, 1930 in Sterling, KS, the son of Bert and Nellie Nickel Mathews. Leslie was a near lifelong Sterling resident. He graduated from Sterling High School with the class of 1950. Leslie was a farmer and dairyman. He is survived by his sister, Leota Bushell, Sterling; brother, Floyd Mathews, Sterling; niece, Laura Phoades; three nephews, Paul, Dallas, and Charles Rhoades. Leslie was preceded in death by his parents. Graveside service will be 3:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Sterling Community Cemetery with Rev. James Anderson and Rev. Jason Mason officiating. Visitation will be 2:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 11, 2016 with family present 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling. Memorials can be made to the Sterling Presbyterian Manor in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
