Lee Eugene Martinez Jr.

Lee Eugene Martinez Jr., 78, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away May 24, 2024, at his home. He was born October 28, 1945, in Raton, New Mexico, the son of Eli and Gasparita (Blea) Martinez. Lee has resided in Lyons for the past forty years, formerly of Raton, New Mexico. He was a construction worker. Lee enjoyed reading books, classic cars, eating sweets, traveling, and spending time with his family. He was of the catholic faith. On April 18, 1964, Lee was united in marriage with Josephine Cordova in Liberal, Kansas. She preceded him in death on December 19, 2007. He is also preceded in death by his parents; and son, James Martinez. Lee is survived by his two sons, Julian Martinez of Borger, TX, and Johnnie Martinez of Pueblo, CO; daughter, Joann Mascarenas of Pueblo, CO; step-son, Lino Hernandez of Raton, NM; two sisters, Angie Darrah of Sterling, KS, and Delores Candelario of Lyons, KS; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two special cousins, John Piaz and wife Deby of San Antonio, TX, and George Medina of Denver, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
