Larry Patterson Obituary

Larry Joe Patterson, 65, of Chase, Kansas, passed away December 20, 2021, at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons. He was born November 24, 1956, on Whiteman Air Force Base, Knob Noster, Missouri, the son of Joe D. and Charlene Whitehead Patterson. Larry spent his childhood in many different places from Maine to Puerto Rico following his dad’s military career. He remembered those times fondly and had many stories of the adventures from surfing to riding horses on the beach. He attended Chase High School, Chase, Kansas. Larry was a truck driver for Rice County for over twenty years, retiring in 2018. He enjoyed riding his Harley, reloading ammunition, hunting, fishing, trapping, running coon dogs, and four wheeling in his Jeep down at the river. Larry was an avid outdoorsman, and marksman. He was a lover of wildlife and never passed up the opportunity to catch animals. He even once caught a badger with his bare hands and has video to prove it! Most of all Larry enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids and was happiest when he was telling stories and making people laugh. He was a member of the Raymond Baptist Church, Raymond; member of the NRA, a member of the Kansas Bow Hunter’s Association; and a member of Mountain Men Rendezvous. Larry is survived by his mother, Charlene Patterson and husband Silver Ingram of Chase; three children, Elizabeth JoAnn Madden and husband Thomas of Raymond, KS, Jesse Cole Patterson of Chase, and Misty Dawn Patterson; four siblings, I. Joene Latiolais and husband Marion of Franklin, LA, Chuck E. Patteson and wife Pam of St. John, KS, E. Jane Blackburn of Raymond, KS, and Charlotte K.
