Kathleen Beth (Harris) Edwards

Kathleen Beth Edwards, 76, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away October 24, 2024, at Comfort Care Home, Wichita, Kansas. She was born May 24, 1948, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Forney and Mildred (Manion) Harris. Kathleen was a near lifelong Lyons resident. She graduated from Wichita South High School, with the class of 1966 and received her Bachelor of Education degree from Wichita State University in 1970. In her early years, Kathleen was an apartment manager in Wichita and Houston, Texas. Kathleen was a teacher at Hickory Dickory Daycare in Lyons, co-owner of the Sports Gallery in Lyons, and a substitute teacher in Lyons. She retired after 30 years, as the secretary at Lyons High School. On July 4, 1970, Kathleen married Victor Edwards in Wichita. They later divorced. Kathleen is survived by her two sons, Jeff Edwards and wife Gina of Independence, KS, and Kevin Edwards and wife Angela of Cherryvale, KS; brother, Lin Harris and wife Terri of Wichita, KS; seven grandchildren, Devin Mendoza, Calvin Edwards, Jack Edwards, Hannah Haines and husband Gavin, Alivia Kaiser, Regan Edwards, and Graig Edwards; four great-grandchildren, Kaia, Manny, Daxton, and Freya Mendoza; and special cousin, Mary Beth Manion of Wichita, KS. She is preceded in death by her parents. Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 2, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church, Lyons, with Pastor Christine Deeds officiating. Memorials may be given to U.S.D. 405 (to be used for the lunch program) in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
