Katherine Louise Immesote, 80, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away March 20, 2023, at her home. She was born September 28, 1942, in Ellsworth County, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph and Helen Brozek Blazina. Katherine has resided in Lyons for the past eight years, formerly of Hutchinson, Kansas. She graduated from Lyons High School, and later received an associate’s degree in nursing from McPherson College. Katherine worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for many years. She was a lifetime member of the VFW in Lyons and Hutchinson. Katherine enjoyed shopping, cooking, riding horses and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. She was a cast member in the movie “Picnic”. On December 30, 1959, Katherine was united in marriage with Ivan Dean Cox in Ellsworth, Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 4, 1967. Katherine was united in marriage with O.B. Immesote. He preceded her in death in 1997. She is also preceded in death by her parents; son, Douglas Dean Cox; brother, Joseph Allen Blazina; and grandson, Chris Lynn Evel. Katherine is survived by her three sons, Richard Dale Cox of Hutchinson, KS, Ivan Dean Cox Jr. and wife Lori of Hutchinson, KS, and Michael Shawn Immesote of AR; three daughters, Kimberly Ann Slaight and husband Justin of Ellsworth, KS, Anna Marie Salinas of Lyons, and Wendy Lynn Click and husband John of Hutchinson, KS; three sisters, Joan Peterman, Judy Henderson, and Janet Herrman all of Lyons, KS; seventeen grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with Pastor Oscar Gomez officiating. Burial will follow at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 P.M., Friday, March 24, 2023, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to Friends of Animals Rice County in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
