Karml Blumanhourst Obituary

Karml Jan Blumanhourst, 59, of Azle, Texas, passed away June 3, 2021 at her home. She was born January 30, 1962 in Larned, Kansas, the daughter of Melvin D. and Carol Keenan Thompson. Karml has resided in Azle since May of 2016, formerly of Lyons, Kansas. She attended school in Larned and Mt. Saint Scholastica in Canon City, Colorado. Karml completed her nursing degree at Pratt Community College and served as primary care RN at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons from 1987 until 2001, Hutchinson Regional Medical Center from 2002 until 2016, and John Peter Smith Hospital, Ft. Worth, Texas from 2016 until present. Karml will be long remembered for her excellence in nursing care in every position she held. She loved traveling with her husband and her family, venturing all over the United States, Tenerife, Spain, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Australia, Aruba, Hawaii, and throughout the Caribbean. She enjoyed snorkeling, and beach combing, and was always on the lookout for “treasures” to delight her grandchildren. Family and friends will share fond memories of their travel adventures. On July 6, 1993, Karml was united in marriage with Randy Blumanhourst in Central City, Colorado, with their 7 children serving as witnesses. He survives of the home. She is also survived by their seven children, Levi and Mandi Blumanhourst and their children, Lane, Bennett, and Miles of South Hutchinson, KS; Christopher and Kristi Hogan and their children, Elijah and Noah of Coffeyville, KS; Hollie and Matt Ankerholz and their children, Landon and Shealeigh of Lyons, KS; Jerrehl and Jeremy Brown and their children, Jocelyn and Jaron of Aurora, CO; Andrew Hogan of Wichita, KS; Daniel Hogan of Hutchinson, KS; Dr. Keenan and Merideth Hogan and their expected baby of Shawnee, KS; three brothers, Dan Thompson and wife Kay of Pawnee Rock, KS, Kim Thompson and wife Joy of Topeka, KS, and Randall Thompson of Arlington, KS; two sisters, Kandi Smith and Doug Ramey of Ft. Worth, TX, and Krystl Thompson of Ft. Worth, TX; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Karml is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kara Lee; brother, Kevin Thompson; sister, Kelcy Thompson; brother-in-law, Mike Smith; and nephew, Justin Lee Thompson. Funeral mass will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 12, 2021 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons, with Father Patrick Kotrba officiating. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery, Seward, Kansas at a later date. Memorials may be given to Habitat for Humanity or Goodwill in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
