Julia Kay Johnson, 88, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away February 17, 2025, at the Sterling Village, Sterling, Kansas. She was born July 29, 1936, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Glenn C. and Josephine (Modlin) Boyer. Julia has resided in Lyons for the past eight years, formerly of Ford, Kansas. She graduated from Bethany College, Lindsburg, Kansas, with a bachelor's degree in music. Julia was an elementary school music teacher in Chase, Kansas, Licensed Practical Nurse for many years in Minneola, Kansas, and a librarian in Ford, Kansas. She was a member of the Ford Community Church, where she also played the piano. Julia enjoyed playing the piano, reading, quilting, and counted cross stitch. Julia is survived by her daughter, Jeanine McClain of Lyons. She is preceded in death by her parents. A memorial reception will be held at 12:00 P.M., Sunday, March 9, 2025, the First United Methodist Church Education Building Parlor, Lyons. Memorials may be given to Friends of Animals Rice County in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
