John Michael Stewart

John Michael Stewart, 55, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away November 19, 2021, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. He was born January 23, 1966, in Las Vegas, Nevada, the son of Mike and Barbara Gregg Stewart. John has resided in Lyons since 1970, formerly of Las Vegas. He graduated from Lyons High School, Lyons, with the class of 1984. John has worked for Northern Natural Gas for thirty-five years as a Senior Operations and Mechanical Technician. He was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ellinwood, Kansas. John enjoyed golfing, cooking, working on vehicles, traveling, going to the casino, attending their business craft events; and most of all spending time with his family and friends. On September 5, 2015, John was united in marriage with Misty Dutton in Ellinwood. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his father, Mike Stewart and wife Carol of Lyons; stepson, Nicholas Morgenstern of Medicine Lodge, KS; three daughters, Kiana Stewart and Ariel Stewart both of Manhattan, KS; and step-daughter, Adrianna Morgenstern of Hays, KS; brother, Jeff Stewart of Huntington Beach, CA; sister, Tami Brady and husband Mark of Chase, KS; granddaughter, Cora Pinkston; nieces, Miranda and Morgan McCloud; and nephews, Cole and Chase Stewart. John is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara; previous wife, Katie Stewart; maternal grandparents; Orville and Margarett Gregg; paternal grandparents, Jack and Cecila Stewart; and uncle John and aunt Shirley Fliess. Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 27, 2021, at the First United Methodist Church, Lyons, with Pastor Kim Shank officiating. Burial will follow at Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 P.M., Friday, November 26, 2021, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with family present from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to the Donor’s choice in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
