Jimmy Dale "Jim" Boese

Jimmy Dale “Jim” Boese, 78, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away December 10, 2021, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born May 17, 1943, in Dighton, Kansas, the son of Henry and Ada Becker Boese. Jim has resided in Lyons since 1992, formerly of Sterling, Kansas. He graduated from Elm Dale High School, Elm Dale, Kansas, with the class of 1961, and later received his mechanic certification. Jim was a mechanic at Bumper to Bumper and Young Motor’s both of Lyons, Newkirk Dodge of Hutchinson, Chrysler dealership in Wichita, and was owner and operator of Jim’s Auto Repair in Sterling. He was also a farmer, stockman, and handyman. Jim served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed working in his yard, gardening, fishing, watching the birds, cleaning and detailing vehicles, and baking cookies. Jim liked collecting watches and stamps, loved reading his bible, and most of all spending time with his family. He enjoyed taking care of his granddaughter’s bunny Clover, who he loved very much. Jim had a very funny sense of humor. On June 18, 1977, Jim was united in marriage with Alice Gutierrez in Lyons. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his two daughters, Teresa Belote and husband Donald, and Carolyn Rapp both of Lyons; step-daughter, Monica Mies and husband Chris of South Hutchinson, KS; two brothers, Bob Boese of Whitesboro, TX and Danny Boese and wife Kathy of Garnett, KS; two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Boese of Liberty, MO, and Evy Boese of McPherson, KS; ten grandchildren, Derek Thompson, Sierra Thompson, Paige Arell, Gabriel Boese, Levi Belote, Alexia Boese, Marianna Boese, Nevaeh Becker, Chloe Becker, and Arabella Rapp. Jim is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Everett and Paul Boese; and infant sister, Judy Kay Boese. Funeral mass will be at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons with Father Michael Brumgardt officiating. A parish rosary will be said at 10:00 A.M. at the church. Burial will be at Lyons Municipal Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 P.M., Monday, December 13, 2021 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to the The Lord’s Diner, Wichita or the Green Beret Foundation in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
