Jeanie Rae Nichols, 61, of Little River, Kansas, passed away October 14, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born December 17, 1961, in Springfield, Missouri, the daughter of Ernest and Georgie (Schroeder) Bayes. Jeanie has resided in Little River since October of 2017, formerly of Olathe, Kansas. She proudly served as an Election Clerk for the Johnson County Election Commission for 25 years. Jeanie was a member of the Olathe Eagles Aerie #700. She enjoyed playing all card games, especially Texas hold’em, collecting anything Pillsbury Doughboy, and loved her cats. On June 20, 1980, Jeanie was united in marriage with Jeff Nichols in DeSoto, Kansas. He survives of the home. She is also survived by her three children, Joshua Nichols and wife Bridgette of Overland Park, KS, Zachary Nichols of Osage City, KS, and Samantha Nichols and husband Michael Wheatley of Olathe, KS; brother, Jack Bayes and wife Debbie of Belton, MO; brother-in-law, Craig Nichols and wife Valorie of Osawatomie, KS; sister-in-law, Teresa Nichols and significate other Dave Crandall of Little River, KS; and several nieces and nephews. Jeanie is preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Robin Fish. A celebration of life will be held for friends and family at a later date. Burial will be in the Olathe Cemetery, Olathe, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Hereditary Neurological Disease Centre in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
