Janice Mortimore Obituary

Janice Eileen Mortimore, 82, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away May 13, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born October 25, 1939, in Lyons, the daughter of Kenneth K. “Dick” and Lucille Bonds Mortimore. Janice was a lifelong Lyons resident. She graduated from Lyons High School, with the class of 1957, and later graduated from Salt City Business College in Hutchinson. Janice was a secretary for Young Motor Company, Lyons and Farmer’s Alliance, McPherson. She was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Lyons. She enjoyed reading and was a fan of Elvis Presley. Janice is survived by her brother, Merlin Mortimore of Lyons; two nephews, Michael J. Mortimore Sr. of Chase, KS, and Kenny Mortimore and wife Billie Jo of Scott City, KS; six great nephews, Michael J. Mortimore Jr. and wife December of Lyons, Dylan Mortimore of Ellinwood, KS, Dakota Mortimore of Chase, KS, Jordan Mortimore of Lyons, Drake Mortimore of Scott City, KS, and Layne Mortimore of Yuma, CO; and great-niece, Rachael Janda of Chase, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Birzer Funeral Home to help offset funerals expenses.
