Jamie Dean Baxter, 58, of Lyons, passed away August 20, 2018 at his home in Lyons. He was born February 2, 1960 in Little River, Kansas, the son of Bill and Ada Briscoe Baxter. He graduated from Lyons High School with the class of 1978. He later received his welding certificate from NCK Technical College, Beloit, Kansas. Jamie has been a lifelong Lyons resident. He was a self-employed welder and carpenter. Jamie attended First United Methodist Church, Lyons. He is survived by his parents, Bill and Ada Baxter of Lyons; brothers, William Baxter, Brian Griffitt and John Griffitt all of Lyons; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Burdette and Emily Baxter; maternal grandparents, Keith and Alma Briscoe; aunt, Jeanie Schafer; and uncle, Chuck Briscoe. Graveside service will be 10:30 A.M., Friday, August 24, 2018 at Bean Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Joel Grizzle officiating. Memorials can be made to Rice County Council on Aging in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
