Isabel (Barrientos) Cadena

Isabela (Cabela) P. Barrientos-Cadena, 98, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away on the afternoon of January 13, 2022, at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, Little River, Kansas. She was born November 19, 1923, in Lyons, the daughter of John P. and Yisidra Ramierez Barrientos. Isabela was the second oldest of the eleven Barrientos children. She has resided in Lyons since 1971, formerly of San Leandro, California. Isabela was an electronic operator in San Leandro for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lyons. On October 2, 1971, Isabela was united in marriage with Johnny Cadena in Lyons. She is survived by her husband, Johnny, a resident of Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, Little River; daughter-in-law, Jeanet DeLaTorre of Lyons; brother, Louis Barrientos of Broomfield, CO; and two sisters, Odelia Avila of Wichita, KS, and Carol Palacioz of Lyons; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Isabel is preceded in death by her parents; her only son, Pascual “Torey” DeLaTorre Jr.; siblings, Frances P. Barrientos, Daniel Barrientos, infant Elias Barrientos, Joe Barrientos, Bea Rau, infant Jaime Barrientos, and Betty Harkrader; and brothers-in-law, Felix Palacioz and Roman Avila. Per Isabel’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be at 10:30 A.M., Friday, March, 4, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church, Lyons, with Pastor Kim Shank officiating. Burial will follow at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church, Lyons in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
